Every Referral You Get Googles You First
The referral does the hard half. Your site decides whether the other half happens.
Getting Calls
Somebody tells their neighbor about you. Good word, real recommendation, the kind you cannot buy. Then the neighbor does what everybody does now. They look you up before they call.
The referral gets them to the page. The page decides.
By the time they are typing your name you have already won the hard part. Somebody vouched for you. All your site has to do is not undo it. That is a lower bar than most contractors realize, and plenty of sites still miss it.
What undoes a referral
A page that looks like it was built in 2015. A gallery with one photo in it. A number that does not tap. Hours that are wrong. A form that goes nowhere. Any one of those puts a small doubt in, and a small doubt is enough when they have two other names on their phone.
A homeowner described the whole mechanism in two sentences. If it looks like it was made in 2015 they second guess the referral. If it looks clean and professional with photos of your work, testimonials, and an easy way to contact you, they call.
You never hear about this one
That is what makes it expensive. The neighbor does not call to tell you he looked you up and passed. He just calls somebody else. The guy who referred you never finds out either. As far as anyone can tell, that referral never happened.
The fix is smaller than the problem
You do not need to look like a national firm. You need to look like the operator your customer described to them. Real photos of real jobs. The number where you actually answer. What you do, in plain words, in the first thing on the screen.
Your reputation walks people to the door. Make sure the door opens.
